Indie Game “Thomas was Alone” for Windows/MacOS and now PS3/PSVita

Thomas was alone is a Indie-puzzle-platformer video game for Windows and MacOSX and was released in July 2012, received generally positive reviews with a nice and fun puzzles challenges, a really nice sound combination with the game mechanics.

The Art of The Banner Saga

Have you heard about The Banner Saga? it is a successful kickstarted game and it have a nice looking art.

Kotaku posted a nice news, talking a little about the game, so I want to share a little more of the game’s art.

The Banner Saga is a viking-themed 2D gameplay, turn-based strategy game development by Stoic a trio of indie game developers formerly of BioWare. Every animation are done by the hand of Arnie Jorgensen, who before he helped start Stoic Studio worked at places like Sony and BioWare, where he was a lead concept artist.

Tutorial Cocos2d Create Your Simple Game – 4: Simple Sprites Rect Collision Detection and GameOver Screen

Good morning guys, following my last tutorial “Tutorial Cocos2d – 3: Adding a Joystick to your iPad/iPhone Game”. Today I will show a little of collisions for Cocos2D.

Well we have a lot of different algorism for collisions, some of them is a little more practical and simple and that is what we are doing today.

The first code we will be workin on is Rectangle collision. Well, what is it?

it is very simple, around our Sprites we “draw” a simple “Rectangle” to check the collision, of course the algorithm is not very accurate over the true sprite’s borders, but it is very practical, simple and “light”.
